The Greater Beverly YMCA has announced noon-time basketball is now available for free Monday through Friday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Sterling Center in Beverly. This is open for YMCA members aged 19 years old and above.
The Salem Garden Club is now accepting applications for its $2,000 scholarship for Salem residents who will be graduating high school seniors and plan to major in horticulture, botany, ecology, environmental studies, landscape design, land management, city planning, and other similar subjects. The deadline for application is on May 1 and applications are available at the Salem Garden Club website.
Auditions for a non-equity theater performance of “The Great Gatsby: An American Musical” by Marblehead Little Theatre will be held on April 16 and 17. Sign up for a singing time slot and be prepared to attend a dance call if selected for callbacks. A short combination in the style of the show will be taught, and attendees must bring sheet music. Callbacks will be held on April 18 at the Marblehead Little Theatre.
Peabody Institute Library Foundation will be hosting a fundraiser called “Birds & Bubbly” on April 28 from 6 to 8 p.m at the Peabody Institute Library. The event will showcase Audubon’s 200-year-old “Birds of America” prints, with hors d’oeuvres, desserts, wine, beer, and bubbly. Tickets are available for $50 per person.
Marblehead Little Theatre is searching for adult singers above 18 years old for non-equity auditions for “Gershwin & Porter, Who Could Ask for Anything More?” on April 3 and 4. Chorus North Shore is presenting a spring concert called “Classical Greats – Mozart–Haydn”, featuring Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Haydn’s Te Deum on May 13 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Hope Church in Ipswich. The concert will be conducted by Sonja Dahlgren Pryor, accompanied by Jeffrey Patch and the Presto! Orchestra with soloists Holly Cameron, Stephanie Scarcella, Neil Ferreira, and Nathan Halbur. The Peabody Library is offering a two-part Intro to Crochet class on April 12 and 19 at 6:30 p.m. Participants will learn crochet basics and make a small keychain to take home, with supplies provided by the library. Registration is required via email.
