Happy Wednesday, ladies, and welcome to another splurge or save outfit comparison. I got several emails last week commenting that the prices between the two outfits weren’t that different. That was intentional because many ladies are enjoying shopping from both looks depending on their wardrobe goals and budget. I also hope it will inspire you to recreate these or similar looks by shopping in your closet. Today let’s look at a splurge or save retro sneakers outfit over 50.
The older I get, the more I appreciate comfy shoes. My more casual lifestyle gives me lots of sneaker options, so I was happy to see the retro sneaker trend continuing into fall 2022. You can spend a little or a lot on these, so you should decide your budget based on how much you’ll wear them and how comfy they are.
I chose classic, timeless pieces to style with these retro sneakers. Adding too many trends at our age can look tragic, so a small touch is all we need per outfit. A classic straight jean in a pale wash brings the formality level of the jean down on par with the trainers. Darker jeans look more refined, and I was going for a super casual, modern look. Both white shirts are easy classics, but your could swap in a simple tee or lightweight sweater or blouse just as well.
The short trench is another classic, made modern by the length, Woven bags continue to be popular, as does a touch of leopard which is a timeless neutral for many. I love mother of pearl, and this larger disc-shape drop feels more current than a simple pearl stud. There are enough modern shapes in this look; I’d be quite happy with my pearl stud earrings and might even prefer them.
The splurge outfit comes in at $2,222, and the save outfit comes in at $533.
