The Environment Social Governance Summit: Promoting Sustainable Living and Environmental Conservation
The world is currently facing numerous environmental challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, which are significantly impacting our planet’s health and sustainability. The need to address these issues has never been more urgent. Environmental Social Governance (ESG) is a concept that refers to the three central factors in measuring the sustainability and ethical impact of an investment in a company or business. The ESG India Summit 2023, organized by the Prakruti Environment Research & Protection Centre, aimed to promote sustainability and ESG best practices in India.
This summit provided a platform for experts, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and enthusiasts to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and collaborate on various aspects of environmental conservation and sustainability. With over 700 delegates in attendance, the summit featured diverse keynote speakers who offered their insights and solutions to critical environmental issues. The summit’s theme was “One Tree for Nation,” which aimed to promote and generate awareness about nationwide campaigns by the Paryawaran Savrakshan Gatividhi.
The summit highlighted the various global initiatives encouraged and accelerated to combat climate change and Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE), an international mass movement towards “mindful and deliberate utilization instead of mindless and destructive consumption” to protect and preserve the environment, under the leadership of Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Keynote speeches featured on Climate Change, Sustainable Living, Biodiversity Conservation, Renewable Energy, and Environmental Policies. The speakers shared their insights on best practices, trends, and innovations in ESG, and discussed ways to overcome challenges associated with implementing ESG strategies.
One of the summit’s highlights was the launch of “Khadisutra” authored by Mr. Nachiiket Joshi, an informative book on Khadi, highlighting the importance of sustainable fashion, inspired by Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji. The idea of Khadi has become increasingly popular, evidenced by the rising demand for eco-friendly fabrics and sustainable fashion. Khadi, a unique handwoven fabric, has great economic, social and environmental benefits.
Furthermore, the conference provided an opportunity for networking and collaborations among attendees. Participants were able to connect with like-minded professionals, which can help to advance ESG initiatives.
The summit marked JD Institute of Fashion Technology (JDIFT)’s appearance as Event Partner for the annual flagship forum, ESG India Summit 2023. The fastest-growing learning school in India, JDIFT, has prioritized educating its students on sustainable fashion, art, and design while encouraging them to be innovative and daring in their creativity. JDIFT’s values align perfectly with the ESG India Summit’s key agenda, and they are proud to be associated with the forum as its Event Partner.
