My husband LOVES Talbot’s clothing; he always has. When he would go on a business trip, he would usually bring me back some little items from Talbots. You have to understand that Joe doesn’t go shopping, and he is not one to buy me gifts. I even buy my own gifts for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and my birthday. One time, I gave him a Talbot’s catalog and asked him to pick out a couple of outfits for me. This black and white dress was what he picked, and it was gorgeous! I would have NEVER picked that dress, so I’m thinking HE needs to start a blog.
For sizing reference, I’m 5’6″ tall and weigh between 150-155 lbs. I normally wear a size 8 in pants and jeans, a medium-large in tops and sweaters, and a 10-12 in dresses.
Today, I’m taking you along for a try-on from the new Talbots fall collection. I found a lot of great items, and most of them were easy to mix and match to create lots of outfits. I’m only showing one photo of each outfit, but you can see the video of the try-on at the end of this post. It shows the clothing from all angles.
My first outfit is a navy sweater dress with beautiful button details. I think it is extremely flattering, and it runs true to size. I’m wearing a size medium.
I also styled the dress with a Red Tweed Jacket in this red beautiful red color. It is a classic style that you will be able to wear for years and it looks great with jeans pants or a dress. I’m wearing a size 10, and it runs true to size.
The next outfit is a Button-Front Plaid Shirt. This is navy and white; this is great when you wear it alone, or under a jacket or sweater I’m wearing a size medium, and I paired it with Modern Ankle Jeans in the color eve wash. I love the modern raw him look of these jeans, and I’m wearing a size 8, and I think they run true to size.
I added the C’est La Vie navy and white sweater to the plaid shirt. I think it looks great under the plaid shirt, and I’m wearing that with these Stovepipe White Jeans they both run true to size. The sweater is a size medium, and the jeans are size 8.
The next outfit is this gorgeous Cable Knit Sweater in the Breton stripe; it also has beautiful button details; this looks great when worn over the Denim Button-Up Shirt. I love the shirt; you’ll be able to wear it with a lot of different things, and I paired them with a pair of Stretch Corduroy Jeggings in the color TWIG. I’m wearing a size medium and the sweater and the denim shirt and a size 8 and the jegging, and I think they all run true to size.
I changed out the Cable Knit Sweater and instead added the Cable Knit Vest. This is the color olive; I love this look, and the vest is very trendy right now. I’m wearing a size medium. Also, change the jeggings for a pair of jeans. These are Straight-Leg Jeans in the color Chesapeake wash. I’m wearing a size 8 in the jeans, and they run true to size.
So I kept on them the Straight-Leg Jeans, and I changed out the top. I am now wearing a black and white striped Oversize Poplin Shirt. I like the shirt; it runs true to size; I’m wearing a medium, and it is a little oversized, but that’s how it is supposed to fit. I paired the shirt with a burgundy/berry-colored V-Neck Cardigan that is tipped in black and has beautiful buttons. It is in a size medium, and it fits great also.
I kept on the V-Neck Cardigan and the black and white Oversize Poplin Shirt. I just tucked it in for a dressier look, and I paired it with a pair of black Straight-Leg Pants instead. These pants have a side zip. They do have some stretch to them, and I think they fit true to size. I’m wearing a size 8.
I’m back to the Red Tweed Jacket, and this time I’m wearing it with a White Oversized Poplin Shirt and a pair of jeans. These are Everyday Relaxed Jeans; I love the fit; they are relaxed but not baggy. I’m wearing a size 8 in the jeans, and I’m actually wearing a size small in the shirt. They didn’t have a medium shirt, which would’ve been my correct size since the shirt is supposed to be oversized.
I kept on the Everyday Relaxed Jeans and White Oversized Poplin Shirt and changed out the tweed jacket for a more casual look. This is a V-neck Houndstooth Vest, and I love this look. I left the Poplin shirt out for a casual look; I’m wearing a medium size vest, and it fits great.
The next outfit is a pair of Ankle Pants – Denim Finish, a Mini Plaid Marino Wool Cardigan, and a Graphic Crewneck T-Shirt. This is a mix of casual and dressy, and I like the look. The cardigan and the T-shirt are both size medium, and the pants are a size 8; everything runs true to size.
The last outfit is this MockNeck Knit Striped Dress. I did not think I would like this dress because I thought the stripes might make me look larger than I was; however, it ended up being one of my favorite looks, and it came home with me. I’m wearing a size medium in this dress, and I think it is one I will be able to wear for many many occasions.
