THE Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) in Region 3 (Central Luzon) formally opened the 2022 Regional Skills Competition at the Tesda-Bulacan Regional Training Center in Barangay Tabang, Guiguinto, Bulacan on Thursday.
Competitors from various provinces in Central Luzon vied for pride and glory in the event spearheaded by Tesda Regional Director Balmyrson Valdez along with the seven provincial directors from the participating provinces of Bulacan, Tarlac, Bataan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Zambales and Aurora.
Valdez said the four-day competition focused on 28 skills including graphic design technology, information network cabling, web technology, baking, cooking, mobile robotics, hairdressing, landscape gardening, welding, automobile technology, carpentry, refrigeration and air-conditioning, carpentry, fashion technology, electrical installation and plumbing.
“Skills competition promotes skills excellence. It provides opportunities for young individuals to compete and demonstrate their competencies, in particular vocational skills using task and industry-based scenarios. It also inspires young individuals to reach new heights, helping them turn their passion into a profession,” said Valdez.
Meanwhile in his video message, Sen. Emmanuel Joel “Tesdaman” Villanueva said that the skills competition will give the participants a great opportunity to develop and display [their] “multiple intelligences.
“The winners in the regional meet will advance to the National Skills Competition. The national champions will then compete in the Asian Skills Competition in China and World Skills Competition-Special Edition in Finland.”
Our participation in international skills competition will give us the opportunity to showcase our skills and meet world-class standards in skills demonstration,” said Valdez.
Tesda Region 3 is targeting its seventh national championship.
