New York, NY – We are so thrilled to have our iLLUMINATED JEWELRY with patented Ledpulse be listed as the second of five top wearable technologies by Fashion Crush Weekly!
Our iLLUMINATED JEWELRY is a highly light conductive material, which we electroplated gold, and laser etched with different designs that let the light out.
This one is called “Levels” and was inspired by festival fashion. Each design was created by different young woman who Anina Net met at the IDTechEx 360Fashion & Tech exhibition she produced in 2017 in Santa Clara, CA. A group of young women came in and out of all the products that were on display, they Zero’d in on our chokers and bracelets.
It turned out they were graphic design students and Anina Net, always interested in attracting more women to tech, asked them to create initial designs. If you attend Burning Man, you may have seen some people wearing them last summer.
“I think we need to meet women where they are at with tech, and the skills they have. Fashion, jewelry, wearable tech is a great platform to have them make first contact.” Says Anina Net.
When developing a product, there’s always going to be tweeks from the first production. Anina Net recounts how she fixed the adjustable collar:
“I started selling our products at curated PopUp stores in San Francisco leading up to Burning Man Festival, and quickly learned from customers that men wanted to wear them but they were too small. For the next months you could find me in Noisebridge Hackerspace splitting the backs open and attaching clasps for hours and hours. That’s just how it rolls when you’re a maker.” tells Anina Net with a rueful smirk.
“That’s the price you pay when you are the first. You get to work out the kinks.” tells Anina Net, “But don’t let it stop you.”
