Sun Devil Women’s Golf will be participating in the Silverado Showdown from April 3-5 at Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, California. This will be the team’s third consecutive season capping their regular season at this event, which features several highly-ranked teams and individuals. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye’s team is battle-tested, having faced the fourth-toughest schedule in the country so far, and will look to continue their momentum gained in the Spring. The team will be without two-time All-American Ashley Menne, but Coach Farr-Kaye is looking forward to seeing how the team steps up to maintain their level of play and finish the regular season strong.
The competition at the Silverado Showdown will be tough, with three Top-10 teams and 11 of the Top-40 teams in the nation, including San Jose State, Oregon, Texas A&M, USC, Northwestern, Arizona, Ohio State, Pepperdine, UCLA, California, Oregon State, Washington, Texas State, Washington State, and San Francisco. The course is set up as a Par 72 at 6,146 yards.
Arizona State boasts one of the deepest and most talented rosters in the country, making qualifying for the lineup extremely competitive. Even without Menne, the team enters the event as one of the favorites. Golfers like Grace Summerhays, Paula Schulz-Hanssen, Beth Coulter, Calynne Rosholt, and Amanda Linner will make up the lineup.
The Silverado Resort & Spa course is home to the PGA Tour Fortinet Championship and was named one of the “Best Resort Courses” in California in 2021 by Golfweek magazine.
This will be the program’s fourth appearance at the Silverado Showdown, with Senior Alessandra Fanali claiming an impressive victory in 2022. The team finished tied for fourth in 2021 behind Fanali’s second-place effort. The Sun Devils have already climbed several spots in the rankings since the start of the Spring and have a huge opportunity to move up with another strong performance at the PING/ASU Invitational. The team is currently ranked No. 9 by both Golfweek and Golfstat. Several individual Sun Devil players, including Menne, Schulz-Hanssen, Coulter, and Summerhays, are also ranked in the Top-70.
Arizona State will host its first Pac-12 Women’s Golf Championship since 2011 at Papago Golf Club from April 17-19. The team will get a chance to win their first Pac-12 Championship since 2009 in front of their home fans. The event is free and open to the public.
