As a makeup artist, it’s essential for me to invest in high-quality skin-care products. Recently, I spent about $250 on a haul of skin-care goodies, including some old favourites and some new products I wanted to try. Here’s a breakdown of what I picked up and how I’m using each product in my skincare routine.
First up, I repurchased The Inkey List salicylic acid cleanser. This affordable cleanser has been a go-to in my routine for about a year now. I love that it helps keep my acne-prone skin at bay while also improving my skin tone and texture. At $15.50, it’s a great budget-friendly option.
Another repurchase was the Fenty Fat Water Hydrating Milky toner essence. This product was a gift originally, but I loved it so much that I decided to repurchase it myself. The toner is incredibly hydrating and nourishing, and it makes my skin look radiant. The hyaluronic acid and tamarind in the formula are major game-changers. I paid $44 for this toner.
I also picked up a bottle of the Paula’s Choice Skin-Perfecting 2% BHA liquid exfoliant. This product is a staple in my routine because it helps improve my skin texture while preventing acne and tightening my pores. It’s a bit pricier at $47, but it lasts a long time, so it’s worth the splurge.
One of the best-kept secrets of Korean skincare is the Hada Labo Gokujyun premium lotion. This hyaluronic acid product is incredibly hydrating and adds luminosity to my skin. It’s been a major key in fading my hyperpigmentation, which has allowed me to wear less makeup. At $23, it’s a steal.
The Kiehl’s Creamy Eye treatment with avocado is another go-to product for me. This rich, creamy, and hydrating eye cream prevents under-eye creasing, and a little goes a long way. I paid $47 for it.
The Youth to the People Superfood air-whip moisture cream is on the pricier side at $63, but it’s worth the splurge. As someone with oily, combination skin, finding a hydrating moisturizer that won’t clog my pores was a challenge until I discovered this product. It’s lightweight, hydrating, and smells amazing.
I also tried The Inkey List oat cleansing balm, but I’m not in love with it. While it’s affordable at $15.50, I don’t like the texture or the way it leaves my face feeling. If you wear a lot of makeup, it’s probably not worth the hassle.
The Ren Clean Skincare glycol lactic radiance renewal mask is a pricier item at $76, but it’s a game-changer before any event where I need to be camera-ready. It’s my go-to for a glowy, radiant look, and all you need is one pump so it lasts a while.
Lastly, I tried the Peace Out acne-healing dots, but I don’t think they’re worth the $42 price tag. While they might handle whiteheads that pop up before an important event, I think there are cheaper pimple patches on the market that do the same thing.
Overall, I’m happy with my haul of skin-care products. Investing in high-quality products is essential for achieving and maintaining healthy, glowing skin.
