Model: Transitional Fall Jackets – A Smartly Styled Existence®

Happy Thursday, ladies. This time of year, many of us are often needing a third piece to help navigate the change of seasons. One of my favorite third pieces is a casual jacket. For our style edit over 50 this month, Cindy and I are chatting about some transitional jackets you can wear now and on into fall.

Twill Utility Jackets

Most utility jackets have a rustic look (hence the name utility 🙂 and a very sporty vibe. I’ve been on the hunt for one that nips in at the waist a bit and isn’t a warm color. A lot of the utility jackets I’ve found have snaps or flaps on the chest pockets, which I find distracting. I know it’s part of their appeal, but what are we putting in those pockets anyway?

This utility jacket is 95% organic cotton with 5% spandex and is super comfy. It comes in 4 colors, 00-18. I’m wearing a small. I tend to dress everything up, which I will find a challenge with this. Perhaps that’s why I’ve never bought one before. Like many, this jacket has an interior drawstring to snug the waist.

If you love olive green, this jacket comes in petite, regular and tall. This jacket is amazingly affordable and comes in eight colors!

Denim Jackets

I’m fond of wearing a denim jacket in all but the very hottest weather. I have them in lots of washes, but my favorites are white and blue.

A white denim jacket has done yeoman’s work in my wardrobe for years. In the last few years, denim jackets have been getting longer, which is helpful for wearing over tunics and longer tops.

This Liverpool denim jacket has lots of stretch and princess seams which slim the silhouette.

Knit Blazers

I am a huge fan of knit blazers and woven jackets with stretch. I love the look of structure with the ease of spandex. Even though my silhouette is straight, I’m uncomfortable in stiff clothes. I bought this fringe tweed pale gray jacket last year and love the Chanel-ish vibe. It’s back in a gorgeous green shade this season.
