Ahhh, the 60’s! A time of counter-culture, great music, and of course, hippies! The 60’s has solidified itself as an iconic decade as it’s still referenced by many to this day.
The 60’s gave us makeup trends.
The 60’s gave us fashion trends.
And the 60’s gave us so many hair looks!
The most iconic of them all being the bouffant.
A bouffant style involves different techniques to make the hair on top of your head voluminous…think early Brigitte Bardot, Adele in 2011 or even Ariana Grande’s Positions album cover. The bouffant was extremely popular during that time because it allowed women to tap into something that was all the rage when it came to hair – VOLUME.
Let’s go through Anh’s guide for creating this iconic 60’s look.
STEP 1:
Spray a few pumps of Weightless Replenishing Mist onto damp hair.
STEP 2:
Use 1 pump of Luminous Bodifying Oil on the ends of the hair to make sure that they’re protected.
STEP 3:
Since the main thing we’re looking to tap into is volume, we’re gonna want to make sure to spray the hair with the Thickening Mist 4 in order to plump up individual strands while adding elasticity for long-lasting, flexible hold.
STEP 4:
Smooth the hair out with a blow dryer and a round brush.
STEP 5:
Establish a deep side part in the hair
STEP 6:
Tease the crown with a rat tail comb for extra volume.
STEP 7:
Before twisting the hair, leave a few hair line pieces out.
STEP 8:
Gather the hair in the middle to create a low nape french twist.
PRO TIP: Twist the hair until tight, then secure the twist with pins.
STEP 9:
Secure the look by spraying the hair with Extra Strong Hold Hairspray 10.
