As best of friends for some three decades, we have been through thick and thin together. We met when I was 17 years old – we were both modelling – and our lives have been intertwined ever since. Kate never ceases to amaze and beguile in equal measure, and today we are here to discuss her new chapter, the launch of her wellness brand, Cosmoss. I have been in the health and nutrition business for more than 10 years. As a certified functional practitioner, and having worked on Kate’s health in the past, I know she has wanted to improve her personal wellbeing for some time – by her own admission, Kate’s adrenal glands and nervous system were “f**ked”, and she decided that she needed to “fix them”. She references the Big Book, a self-help tome that presents 12 steps to recovery, as key to her self-examination. “I learnt to look at myself, at my shortcomings and truthfully at who I am. And not be afraid. I started meditating every day, doing transcendental meditation, wild swimming… I tried everything [new].” A belief in self-healing and a desire to take care of herself emotionally, as well as physically, was a holistic approach that led her into her new business venture. As part of her journey, Kate worked with Victoria Young, a homoeopath and “spiritual guide” she describes as “a wise, wise woman”, who now consults on Cosmoss.
