Priyanka Chopra has achieved a major milestone in the celebrity beauty industry by securing second place among A-listers. Her haircare brand Anomaly has reportedly pulled in a whopping £429 million this year, just behind Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty, which allegedly made £477 million. Kylie Jenner takes the third spot with her brand Kylie Cosmetics, followed by Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez.
Priyanka launched Anomaly Haircare back in 2021, originally selling in the US before launching it to the Indian market just last year. Speaking on the venture, Priyanka previously shared, “Nykaa on their platform has 4,000+ products, 450+ haircare brands and we’re in the top 10 in about 3 months. Anomaly comes from an ethos of Indian haircare. It is for the Indian consumer.” The actress, who hails from Jamshedpur, India, has had huge success taking the brand to her home country, with the brand stocked at Nykaa, an Indian online beauty store.
From a range of hair oils to shampoo and conditioners, the brand keeps prices affordable too, with products under $10- winning an award from Allure in 2022. Boasting vegan and sustainable titles, all of the products are chemical-free too – using natural ingredients such as rosemary oil. Priyanka is one of the highest-paid actresses and a business tycoon, owning seven businesses, including brand Sona Home and production company Purple Pebble Pictures, while also investing in a number of companies.
The mother-of-one invested in dating app Bumble in 2018 and also became an advisor for its India launch. Recently, Priyanka opened up about her decision to leave Bollywood, admitting she had ‘beef’ with people in the industry. The Indian actress started out as a Bollywood star in the Noughties but moved to America in 2015 when she took on a leading role in Quantico. Discussing her decision to move to Hollywood, the mother-of-one confessed that while she enjoyed working on Bollywood projects, she struggled with the people.
She said, “I was being pushed into a corner in the industry. I had people not casting me, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break.” The former Miss World made her Bollywood debut in 2003’s The Hero: Love Story of a Spy, with her breakout role coming the following year in romantic thriller Aitraaz. She also built up a prominent fan base with her roles in Fashion, Barfi!, and Mary Kom.
In conclusion, Priyanka Chopra has achieved tremendous success in the beauty industry with her haircare brand, Anomaly, and secured second place among A-listers. Her brand’s success, with its affordable prices and vegan, chemical-free products, has gained a significant foothold in the Indian market. Priyanka’s business acumen and investments in global companies show she is not just an actress, but an astute businesswoman.
