Jeremy Ford, known for his Season 13 Top Chef win, just announced he will be opening his third South Florida restaurant called Beauty and The Butcher. Located in South Miami, in partnership with Grove Bay Hospitality Group (much like his Michelin-starred Stubborn Seed), this new restaurant will be an elevated dining experience, featuring a menu of seasonal small plates and a focus on different meats — not just steak.
“I’m excited to open a new restaurant in Miami. Especially in an area that’s so close to home. I love the South of Fifth neighborhood where Stubborn Seed is, but I see a lot of potential in bringing upscale seasonal dining off Miami Beach to the suburbs,” shares Ford. “Beauty and The Butcher is a name that’s near and dear to my heart; it’s a nod to my eldest daughter Madelynn (the beauty) and me (the butcher). When Madelynn came into my life, she made me a dad for the first time and gave me purpose. This one’s for her and her sisters.”
Taking over the space that housed Grove Bay’s Public Square restaurant, Chef Ford and Grove Bay Hospitality co-founders Ignacio Garcia-Menocal and Francesco Balli have been working on ways to create new restaurants together ever since the opening of Stubborn Seed nearly five years ago and are overjoyed the time has come.
“We’ve been talking to Jeremy for some time now about opening new restaurants and the opportunity finally presented itself for him to take over the space that currently houses Public Square,” says Garcia-Menocal. “Public Square had a good run, but the restaurant has untapped potential. With Jeremy at the helm, we are confident that Beauty and The Butcher will offer a special dining experience that only Jeremy can create.”
Unlike Stubborn Seed, Beauty and The Butcher won’t be considered fine dining, in fact, there is no tasting menu planned for this restaurant — at least not yet. The focus will be on seasonal dishes served with Jeremy’s special twist.
Ford developed his love of cooking at a young age thanks to his maternal grandmother who shared her knowledge with him. He began his culinary career at just 16-years-old, and he’s cooked in kitchens across the country with notable chefs like Dean Max and Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
On the heels of his Top Chef win in 2016, he partnered with Grove Bay Hospitality Group, a Miami-based restaurant group, to open his first restaurant in 2017, Stubborn Seed in Miami Beach, where he is currently the executive chef and partner.
You can also catch him alongside his friends and fellow chefs Justin Sutherland and Kristen Kish on a hilariously entertaining food show called Fast Foodies where the chefs recreate favorite fast food dishes of celebrity guest stars. In late 2021, Ford opened The Butcher’s Club at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens where he currently serves as the restaurant’s executive chef. This year he received his first semi finalist nomination for James Beard “Best Chef: South” and Stubborn Seed received a Michelin Star.
Beauty and The Butcher is slated to open Fall 2022.
