The Environment Social Governance (ESG) Summit: Exploring Environmental Conservation and Sustainability
The Environment Social Governance (ESG) Summit, hosted by Prakruti Environment Research & Protection Centre, took place on 28th March 2023, at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, India. The summit drew over 700 delegates comprising experts, thought leaders, and enthusiasts, who converged to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and collaborate on various aspects of environmental conservation and sustainability.
The summit was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Parshottam Rupala ji, Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, and the Guest of Honor was Mrs. Locket Chatterjee, Member of Parliament, Hooghly, Bengal, Shri Dipsinh Rathod, Member of Parliament, Sabarkantha, Gujarat, Shri Krishna Vidhyarthi Sahu Maharaj, Mahant, Shri Valmiki Ashram, Delhi, Padma Shri Dr. Anuradha Paudwal, and Mrs. Srimathi Shivashankar, Corporate Vice President, HCL Technologies.
The summit promoted and raised awareness about ‘एकपेड़ देशके नाम’ – One Tree for Nation, a nationwide campaign by Paryawaran Savrakshan Gatividhi. The nation-wide campaign aims to mitigate deforestation, promote afforestation, and encourage sustainable forestry to protect and preserve the environment. Shri Gopal Arya ji, National Convenor, Paryawaran Savrakshan Gatividhi attended the summit.
The summit highlighted the global initiatives encouraged and accelerated to combat climate change, and Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE), an international mass movement towards “mindful and deliberate utilization instead of mindless and destructive consumption” to protect and preserve the environment under the leadership of Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
The Keynote Speakers featured a diverse group of experts, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders who offered their insights and solutions to critical environmental issues. The topics discussed were on Climate Change, Sustainable Living, Biodiversity Conservation, Renewable Energy, and Environmental Policies. Keynote speakers shared their insights on best practices, trends, and innovations in ESG, and discussed ways to overcome the challenges associated with implementing ESG strategies.
The summit marked the launch of “Khadisutra” authored by Mr. Nachiiket Joshi, an informative book on Khadi, highlighting the importance of sustainable fashion inspired by Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji.
The conference also provided an opportunity for networking and collaboration among attendees. Participants were able to connect with like-minded professionals, which can help to advance ESG initiatives.
