We recently had two families come and stay with us on the same weekend. My son, DIL, and my grandchildren came for a couple of days, and then my Energizer Bunny Friend and her husband and daughter stayed with us the next night. Both families forgot one item and had to ask me if I had one they could use. That got me thinking, and I decided to make an “if you forgot” basket for each of my guest’s rooms.
I thought about the items you would normally use when you took a shower and got ready to go to bed. Some items were things you wouldn’t care to use after someone else, such as pump lotion or shampoo. Other items would want to be things you could take with you and put in your travel bag.
The Kopari Coconut Body Wash is a product that I just got and started using myself. I love the light scent, and you know how I feel about scents, and it makes my skin feel super soft. I found these Bath and Shower Body Scrubbers to make applying the body wash easier, and I added one to each basket.
I ordered two different shampoos and conditioners; this basket has the Dove Hair Therapy Shampoo & Conditioner set, while the other bedroom has the L’Oreal Repairing Shampoo & Conditioner set.
Because I have such dry skin, I figured others might need a moisturizing lotion also. Lubriderm Advanced Moisturizing Lotion is a great lotion to use when you get out of the shower. It doesn’t have a fragrance, at least not one that I detect, so I like that.
I also added some essential items, such as disposable razors, deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, and some feminine supplies. While I didn’t put any skincare in the basket, I did add some makeup remover wipes and a makeup eraser cloth in the basket.
I don’t have it in yet, but I ordered this water pitcher with tumbler to put on each nightstand. I thought it came with the wooden holder, but in reading the description again, I think it is not included. I thought the holder was a nice touch, especially if the pitcher might have condensation.
One of the coolest items I ordered is a night light for the bathrooms. When you are a guest at someone’s house, you can get disoriented if you get up in the middle of the night. So, I ordered these light-changing salt lamps to go in the bathrooms as a night light.
I already had the clear storage bins, but these Wire Storage Baskets are a great neutral, and they add a charming touch that the clear basket doesn’t have.
I’ve thought of a couple of other things that might be ways to make your guests feel at home, so I’ll link to those too.
Poo-Pourri toilet spray
Revlon Compact Hair Dryer
A 2-pack charging blocks plug-in
I think it would be a nice touch to add a vase of flowers on the day the guests arrive. I was also thinking about a magazine, but do people actually read those anymore? I see so many people on their phones that I’m not sure that a book or magazine would be something they would want.
If you think of some other items that would make your guest feel at home, please let me know.
