Relove – a company powering fashion brands with technology to embrace resale and build digital factory outlets – has introduced a new technology ‘Rescue’.
According to Relove, 32 fashion brands including Summer Somewhere, The Summer House, Renge, Saaki, Okhai, Miko Lolo and many more will now be able to communicate defects transparently to customers and hence liquidate damaged inventory through their own websites.
Rescue is said to have answered a question that brands have struggled with – what do they do with defective inventory? Inventory with tiny marks, weaving or thread defects can be as high as the whole lot or as low as 10 per cent of the production. It blocks massive amounts of money and occupies space in warehouses and such inventories are eventually discarded, burnt or sent to landfills.
In a consumer-driven market, brands in India need to focus on two aspects in their products – prices and a lower impact on the planet. And, as textile waste is the third-largest source of municipal solid waste in India, new digital business models would help the fashion industry slow down its impact and derive monetary value from waste.
With the Relove app installed, a brand’s warehouse manager can use the Rescue feature right from their phone – 1) click a picture of the defect 2) upload it as a variant of the product.
Customers can visit the Relove section of the brand’s website and find slightly defective items with the word Rescue appended. The sold products get dispatched directly from the brand warehouse.
