Our passion is empowering beauty professionals like you to take charge of your life and business. Cosmo is constantly finding new and creative ways to help you get started on your dream journey.
From business coaching and scheduling software to attracting new clients, your success is our priority.
While opening up your own business can seem like a daunting task, the truth is it can be broken down into simple steps. We’ve helped hundreds of salon owners get started over the years, and the results have been truly inspiring.
Here are 5 ways that Cosmo makes it easy to get started with your own salon.
Location, Location, Location
Finding the perfect home for your salon is the first step. Once that is done, you can begin to visualize what the design and atmosphere will be.
Cosmo currently has four locations you can choose from and we are always scouting new, exciting possibilities. As of now, we are located in Troy, Clarkston, Canton, and Taylor. These are spread out across the Metro Detroit area so you can make the best choice for your business.
You can schedule a tour of each one of our locations to determine which environment fits your vision the best. You’ll have a chance to meet some of the other salon owners, envision what your studio will look like, and find out what each location has to offer.
We’re also working on launching our virtual tours so you can see each location from the comfort of your own home.
Fill Out Proper Documentation
Once your location is picked and you’re fully committed, it is very important to make sure you have the proper legal documentation in place. From registering your business with the State to determining how you want your taxes done, it is extremely important to get these things in order as early as possible.
The good news is that Cosmo has been doing this for years. We will offer assistance in any way you need and can point you to helpful resources that will make this process a breeze.
Set Up Systems
The next step is setting up your scheduling system. From different types of software to easy-to-use apps, there are a variety of options available to you. Cosmo will work with you to determine which solution fits your specific needs the best.
Once everything is set up, your scheduling system will act as your personal assistant so you can focus on growing your clientele.
Going back to taxes, you’ll also want to consider using accounting software to keep track of inventory and profits. There are several free options available that we can recommend, and a well-organized Excel spreadsheet can even do the trick.
While we might seem redundant, it is worth noting again that Cosmo is at your side every step of the way. Once you become a member of the Cosmo family, you will have access to limitless advice and resources.
Make Your Studio Your Own
This is the most exciting step! Once you have selected your location and salon suite, you have free reign to design it as you see fit. All our studios are designed by Ron Rae and are ready for business as soon as you move in.
Personalize your space with artwork, furniture, music, and décor. You want your space to reflect you and the salon culture you want to create for clients. It helps to create a list of needs (equipment, products, etc.) and wants (new paint, furniture, etc.).
Make sure you are able to purchase all your needs before using the rest of your budget for items you want. After a few months of revenue, you’ll be able to put those finishing touches on your salon.
Cosmo has an extensive list of design inspirations for your salon, and we can help get you deals on certain equipment and products. The best part? You get to sell the retail products and services you prefer, set your own pricing, and keep 100% of the profits.
You are in full control of your salon space.
Promotion
You might be bringing clients with you from your previous position but finding new clients should always be a focus. Once again, Cosmo will offer our help with new headshots, website promotion, social media mentions, and more!
Cosmo can promote your business during Instagram Live events, open houses, and you can even partner with other salon owners in the building. The possibilities are limitless when it comes to getting the word out about your brand and business.
We’ll teach you how to build positive reviews online, add your website to local directories, run promotions, and get the most out of referrals.
Summary
Escape the drama, set your own schedule, and make more money. That’s all just a few simple steps away.
You don’t want to look back at 2020 as the year that nothing changed. Cosmo is here to help you start living your dream.
